THEODORE (Captain Ted) LAMBERT BALEY
May 27, 1954 – December 27, 2021
Lincoln City/Newport – Theodore (Captain Ted) Lambert Baley was born in Tillamook, Oregon on May 27, 1954. He passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2021. He moved to Salem as a baby and was raised mainly in the Willamette Valley – in Salem and Falls City, graduating from South Salem High School in 1972. He met the love of his life, Pam (Jones) Baley at Mayfair Market where Ted worked as a box boy/ checker and Pam worked at Sprouse Ritz next door. They were married on August 16, 1974 in Salem, Oregon and after a few years in Salem they made the Oregon Coast their home.
Ted received his Associates Degree in Forestry at Chemeketa Community College in 1974. He spent his life working for various lumber yards (McCormick’s Lumber, Copeland Lumber, Larkin Lumber - to mention a few) – working the last 30 years as the manager of Barrelhead Building Supply in South Beach, Oregon along side his son Jason (Beef/Beefie) Baley.
“Captain Ted” was a local celebrity at the Oregon coast. His advertisements for Barrelhead Building Supply that ran on the local radio station were legendary. He believed in community and through Barrelhead Building Supply he supported the local sporting teams, the local schools, as well as sponsoring his son-in-law Antwan Adams in his IFBB Pro quest.
He loved his family, their little dog Moe, the Raiders, Oregon Ducks, the NFL, WWF, Judge Judy, the Beatles, rock and roll, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, oysters, wings, prime rib, Hamm’s beer, and Bloody Mary’s - not necessarily in the order listed! Ted had a bottomless sense of humor, and he especially loved telling jokes!
Ted was one of a kind. Everyone he met – was a friend. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, co-workers, customers, and those who just knew him from his radio advertisements.
Ted is survived by his wife of 47 years Pamelia Jean Baley; his children Erica (Clove/Smelly Cat) Adams (Antwan), and Jason (Beef/Beefie) Baley; his sister Sandy Garabedian (Harry); 5 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth (Linker) Baley and Paul Baley.
A celebration of life will be held on May 7th, 2022 at Wapiti Park (covered area), 2118 S. Drift Creek Rd, Lincoln City, Oregon 97367 – from 1 pm to 7 pm. All are welcome.
