Lee was born April 4, 1931 to Roland & Rhoda (Davidson) Hood in Houston, Texas. He passed away surrounded by those he loved and his care team with Samaritan Hospice and North Lincoln Hospital on May 17, 2020 in Lincoln City, Oregon at the age of 89.
Mr. Hood graduated in 1950 at Washington High School in Portland, Oregon. Shortly after high school in 1952 Lee joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1956. His first marriage was to Nancy Allen. He later married Ava Jean (Drake) Hood on July 30th 1968. After Jean passed away in 1994, Lee met his current wife Eileen L. (Wisecup) Hood in a grief group held through Hospice. Both had lost their spouses during the same week. Lee and Eileen were then married on September 27, 1997.
During Lee's career he worked for Shell Oil Willbridge Plant in Portland, Oregon as a supervisor for 35 years retiring in 1991. He then moved to Gleneden Beach for retirement serving on the road district board for 16 years, he was also a member of the Gleneden Beach Christian Church and Community Club. He enjoyed fishing, high school football, Portland Trailblazers and connecting with his neighbors and his community.
Left to mourn is Lee's wife Eileen of Gleneden Beach, Oregon, his son Dave Hood and spouse Kathy of Bend, Oregon, his son Andrew Hood and spouse Teresa of Bend, Oregon, his daughter Susan of Damascus, Oregon, his son John Hood and spouse Judy of Beaverton, Oregon, his son John Drake and spouse Rita of Sandy, Oregon, his daughter Marvel Sandoval and spouse Manny of Gleneden Beach, Oregon his son Jeff Smith and spouse Pam of Gleneden Beach, Oregon his son Philip Smith and spouse Heidi of Gladstone, Oregon and his sister Kathryn Lawrence of Monterrey, California. Along with 28 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and many other family members & friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roland & Rhoda Hood and spouse Ava Jean Hood.
A visitation will be held at Pacific View Memorial for Lee Hood on Friday May 22, 2020 between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. With Phase 1 being approved we can gather up to 25 people with the request of following social distancing. There will be masks, gloves and hand sanitizer available.
Entombment with Navy Military Honors will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Portland, Oregon on June 5, 2020 at 1:00 PM.
