Eugene Flanders Moore Jr.

Eugene was born on July 8, 1938, in Los Angeles, California, to Eugene Flanders Moore, Sr. and Marion Frances Hollis. He grew up in North Hollywood, California, and after graduating from high school, attended Harvey Mudd College. As a member of the college's founding class, he earned a degree in engineering in 1961. Following graduation, Eugene married Vallace Haynie, and together they moved to West Lafayette, Indiana, to attend graduate school at Purdue University. While raising the beginnings of their family, both Eugene and Vallace worked to earn their master's degrees. Eugene and Vallace eventually raised six children, first in Fountain Valley, California, before relocating to Lincoln City, Oregon, in 1982. Eugene was a devoted husband and a loving father who treasured spending time with his family. He made it a priority to create special one-on-one time with each of his children, building lasting memories throughout their lives. An avid fisherman, he delighted in teaching all of his children to fish and loved sharing stories of his many fishing adventures. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eugene served in many callings throughout his life, always willing to give his time and talents in service to others. Over the course of his career, Eugene worked in several fields. He was an electrical engineer, owned and operated the Sears Catalog Store and Lincoln City Printing, and later taught electrical engineering at Tillamook Bay Community College and Chemeketa Community College until his retirement in 2014. Eugene is survived by his children, David Moore (Sherri), Marion Moore (John), Matthew Moore (Alicia), Deborah Miller (John), Rebecca Ottosen (Jeff), and Jennifer Gordon (Jeff); 19 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vallace Moore; his father, Eugene Flanders Moore, Sr.; his mother, Marion Frances Hollis; and his brother, Hollis Moore. A celebration of Eugene's life will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3565 NE West Devil's Lake Road, Lincoln City, Oregon. Arrangements were cared for by Pacific View Memorial Gardens.
