Richard Allen Young (Dick) was born in Fairfield, Iowa on Oct. 14, 1933 to G. Ralph Young & Irene E. Young.  He passed away peacefully at his home on August 16, 2018 with his daughter by his side.  

He began school in Shell Rock Iowa, but his family moved to Minneapolis Minnesota in 1941.  Dick graduated from Minneapolis Vocational Technical Institute and spent his career as a Mechanical Designer.

He married Gloria Nelson in May 1957 and together they raised four children; son, Neal Young of Sandy, OR, daughters: Gail Short of Lincoln City, OR, Angela Young of Spokane, WA, and Nancy Noteboom of Gresham, OR.  Their marriage ended in 1973.  

Dick married Donna Otto in 1975 and lived in Troutdale, OR until she passed away in 2000 at which time he moved to Gleneden Beach, OR.  

Dick was blessed a final time in marriage to Bee Boye’ of Lincoln City in 2007 but the marriage ended in 2010 with much regret.

Dick loved camping, bowling, golf, and wood working.  In his younger years he was a Boy Scout Master and enjoyed working with youths.  Dick also loved boating, he owned and raced a limited inboard Hydroplane for several years.  In his later years he enjoyed doing all forms of repair and remodel work at a few local churches.  Dick felt very good to be able to donate blood frequently, realizing the life-saving need.  He also was a volunteer driver delivering meals on wheels.

He is survived by his four children, seven grand-children, eight great grand-children, and two brothers Terry L. Young, Dennis J. Young of Minnesota.  Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald G. Young and Paul R. Young, wife Donna Young, and ex-wife Gloria Young.  

Memorial service to be held at First Baptist Church, 1333 NW 17th St.  Lincoln City, OR by Pastors John & Valerie Kendall and Pastor Phil Magnum on Saturday, Sept. 8th @ 11 a.m.
