Obituary

Richard was born August 5, 1939 in Onaway, Idaho to Kenneth and Alma (Owens) West. He passed away surrounded by those he loved and his care team at North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City, Oregon on December 23, 2019 at the age of 80.

Richard enlisted into the United States Navy in 1958 and after serving four years was honorably discharged in 1962 then transferred to the Naval Reserves. He married Deloris A. Leturno in Crescent City, California on December 10, 1960; together having 3 children.

The family lived in Lincoln City, Oregon for over 50 years. Richard worked for Fallon Logging Company for a little over 40 years as a logger and heavy machine operator. After retirement he ran errands picking up parts in different locations and delivering them when needed; he enjoyed every minute of it. He also enjoyed sports, car racing and watching TV.

Left to mourn is his spouse Deloris of 59 years, his son John West of Warrenton, Oregon and his spouse Liesa, his son Michael West of Otis, Oregon, his grandson Brandon whom he had a special relationship with, three granddaughters, five great grandchildren and his sister Doris Benge of Arcata, California and her spouse John.

He is preceded in death by his son, Connie West on March 2, 1996.

All are invited to a Memorial Ceremony with Military Honors at Faith Baptist Church in Otis, Oregon Saturday February 1st 2020 at 2:00 PM, a light reception will follow. Family requested for those attending to dress causal.
