Harold Chester (Chris) Christiansen, 75, died of cancer on Oct. 15 at his home in Lincoln City, Oregon.

Harold was born on Sept. 9, 1943, in Minneapolis and was raised in Jackson, Minnesota. He was active in the Boy Scouts and enjoyed attending the national Boy Scout jamboree. He attended the University of Minnesota, and served in the U.S. Army in the mid-1960’s. An adventurous young man, he hitchhiked and bicycled throughout Europe. He later lived in San Francisco, worked as a highway surveyor in Alaska and lived in Salem and Portland, Oregon, prior to moving to Lincoln City in the 1970’s. In 1993, after having been store manager, he became owner of Trillium Natural Food Store in Lincoln City. He was a gentle soul who dedicated his energy towards natural food, health and preservation of the environment.

Chris is survived by three sisters: Janet McGrath, of Northfield, Minnesota; Diane Christiansen, of Newport, Oregon and Carolyn Sabatka, of Ironton, Minnesota; and by nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A Celebration of Chris's Life was held Saturday at 3 pm on Oct. 20 at Connie Hansen Garden Conservancy, 1931 NW 33rd St., Lincoln City.
