William David Belcher

William David Belcher, 80 of Yuma, Arizona passed away peacefully at his vacation home in Lincoln City, Oregon on September 18, 2017. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family, following a short battle with Leukemia. David was born December 3, 1936 to the late Claude and Elda O. Belcher in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He graduated from Richland High School in 1955. David was a licensed meter technician and received his journeyman lineman credentials after a several year apprenticeship program. He worked at Benton R.E.A.and many private companies as well as numerous Pacific Northwest counties as a lineman. David retired from Chugach Electric in Anchorage, Alaska where he was an electrical dispatcher. He was a 60 year member of the I.B.E.W. Local #77 for which he was recently honored as well as served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserves being honorably discharged. David was pleased to make regular contributions to the Christian Children's Fund, helping less fortunate children across the world. He was a pilot and small aircraft owner making several trips to Alaska for hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Yuma Golf and Country Club. David spent many hours and days at the golf course with friends and was especially happy golfing with his sons, daughters and grandchildren. David was highly skilled at mechanical things and maintained three homes he shared with his wife Carole in Yuma, Arizona; Casper, Wyoming and Lincoln City, Oregon. He married the love of his life, Carole Byrd in October 2007. They spent many vacations in Hawaii with family, snorkeling, golfing and playing cards. They hosted a family gathering at their Lincoln City vacation home every year, with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren coming from as far away as Baltimore, Maryland and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. David is survived by his wife, Carole Belcher; daughters; Shelly Sansaver of Spokane, Washington; Kirby Taylor and spouse Brad Taylor of Prosser, Washington; Brenda Boyle and spouse Jim Boyle of Richland, Washington, sons; Kevin Medved and spouse Michelle Medved of Manson, Washington and Timothy Medved and spouse Teri Medved of Longview, Washington. Sharing Carole's children: Julia Madigan of Sandy, Utah; Jeff Byrd and spouse Erica Byrd of Yuma, Arizona and Rachael Barkley of Yuma, Arizona; sixteen grandchildren. eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, Claude & Elda O. Belcher and his siblings; Charles Belcher, Rosemary Griffith, Phillip Belcher and Michael Belcher. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Information will be made available here on his memorial page.
