Jerry L. Kirkpatrick

Jerry Lee Kirkpatrick, age 74, passed away peacefully of an aggressive brain tumor at his home in the company of family. He was born April 22, 1941 in Eugene, Oregon to the late Hattie and Ulysses Kirkpatrick. His step-dad Dave Stough was a big part of his life. He held a variety of jobs including helping to build the pipeline in Alaska, building roads in Indonesia and eventually became a successful business owner until his retirement. He was a man who loved the outdoors and the "Wild West." His children and grandchildren grew up with stories of cowboys, Indians and hunting for Sasquatch from horseback. He was a past president of the Lincoln County Chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association, and while his passion for hunting and fishing took him around the world from Alaska to Africa, some of his favorite treks were his annual chukar hunting trip with family and friends along the rugged cliffs of the Owyhee River and bowhunting elk in the Oregon Coast Range. He is survived by sisters, Barbara (Wayne), Phyllis and Patricia (Mark), brothers, Tom (Zora) and Asa. He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. Jerry is survived by his wife, Muriel. A, daughter Dawn Marie (Robert), Son David (Elise). Also survived by Muriel's sons: Stacey Ehrenfelt (Tammy), Tracey Ehrenfelt (Julie) and Shawn Ehrenfelt (Anita) who were a big part of Jerry's life as he was involved in all their activities from sports to hunting. They cared for him several times a day when he needed it most. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and one great grandson, Brody, who in the past seven months was a tremendous joy to his "Papa" along with his mother Stephanie. They planned and took many day trips together. Special thanks to the college grandsons who called and visited "Papa" in Corvallis during chemo treatments. All the grandkids stepped up to help their favorite grandpa. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Samaritan North Lincoln Hospice for their care and compassion during Jerry's final days.
